# Sell Gutter Supplies Wholesale by the Coil, the Profile and the Color

> Uncap builds Shopify stores that sell gutter supplies wholesale for gutter manufacturers and distributors serving installers, roofers and contractors: coil, K-style and half-round gutters, downspouts, hangers, guards and drainage parts. Coil ships by the pound but is ordered by the foot. Every end cap, miter, hanger and guard has to fit one profile and one size, in one color. The color belongs to every line on the ticket, not only to the coil.

## The challenge

**Where a generic storefront breaks for gutter suppliers**

Coil ships by the pound but is ordered by the foot, and every part has to fit one profile, one size and one color.

| | Factor | Generic storefront setup | What gutter installers need |

| --- | --- | --- | --- |

| Coil by weight | Coil ships by the pound but is ordered by the foot. | The installer enters linear feet, and the site converts them to pounds at the manufacturer's yield for that width and gauge, built during implementation. |
| Coil spec | A coil line on an order carries at least four facts: metal, gauge, width and color. | Width, gauge, metal and color become product attributes from your item master, built during implementation. |
| Profile and size | Each size and hand is its own part number. | Parts that do not fit the chosen profile and size drop out of the list, and end caps ask for right or left, built during implementation. |
| Box quantities | In one manufacturer's catalog, rectangular downspouts pack 10 to a box in aluminum and 5 to a box in copper and steel. | Shopify quantity rules hold each variant to its own box increment, re-validated in checkout. |
| One color | The color belongs to every line on the ticket, not only to the coil. | The buyer picks profile, size, downspout size and color once. |
| Mixed metals | A copper gutter order with aluminum hangers on it is a question to ask before checkout, not after the install. | A notice when an order puts copper gutter with aluminum parts is built during implementation from your rules and the manufacturer's guidance. |

### Coil is sold by the pound and installed by the foot

**A coil is a weight, a width and a gauge.** [A manufacturer's published gutter coil specification](https://detroitmi.gov/sites/detroitmi.localhost/files/hdc-submitted-materials/2022-02/Aluminum_Gutter_Coil_Spec.pdf) puts each coil at approximately 300 to 400 lbs, packed one to three rolls per skid. It lists .027 aluminum coil in 11 3/4, 11 7/8, 14 and 15 inch widths, and .032 in 11 3/4, 11 7/8, 15 and 18 inch widths, with a note that some widths may be available only in specific geographic distribution areas. Color is part of the same sheet: the coil comes in a wide variety of colors to match the maker's own metal products and most major manufacturers'. So a coil line on an order carries at least four facts: metal, gauge, width and color.

**The installer thinks in feet.** The coil is roll-formed into gutter on site, and the run is measured in linear feet. [One manufacturer's coil yield calculator](https://senox.com/yield-calculator/) works in both directions: "Calculate pounds needed from feet required" and "Calculate feet available from pounds on hand." It asks for the coil width (11 7/8, 15 or 18 inches) and the metal (.027 or .032 aluminum, copper or Galvalume Plus) before it answers. The pounds behind 200 feet of gutter change with both.

**The profile follows the machine.** The same manufacturer lists its gutter machines by profile and size: 5-inch K-style, 6-inch K-style, a 5 and 6 inch K-style combo, 7-inch K-style, a 6 and 7 inch K-style combo, 6-inch half round and 6-inch Boxer. A contractor who runs a 6-inch K-style machine is not browsing a gutter catalog. They are buying coil, hangers and end caps for one profile, and they want the store to know it.

### Every accessory belongs to a profile and a size

**End caps come left and right.** [One manufacturer's 2026 catalog](https://senox.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/catalog_SENOX_2026_v1_Oct.pdf) lists K-style end caps in 5 and 6 inch, right or left, "Packaged 25R/25L Pcs/Box." K-style miters are packaged 20 to a box, in strip, bay and box styles, for outside or inside corners. K-style internal hangers come 100 to a box, in 5 and 6 inch, with or without a clip. Each size and hand is its own part number.

**Downspouts and elbows change with the gutter.** The same manufacturer pairs round downspouts in 3 and 4 inch with its half-round gutter. In its catalog, rectangular downspouts come in 2 x 3 and 3 x 4 inch, 10 feet long, packed 10 to a box in aluminum and 5 to a box in copper and steel. Elbows come as A or B in each size, and the box count moves again: 36 to a box for a 2 x 3 inch 90 degree elbow, 18 for a 3 x 4 inch.

**Guards and capacity are sized too.** In one manufacturer's line, one guard is "compatible with both 5-inch and 6-inch gutters," another has "a half-round-compatible version," and a flat panel guard "comes in sizes ranging from 6 to 9 inches." On capacity, the same manufacturer says 5-inch gutters "suit smaller homes or areas with light rainfall," 7-inch gutters "provide greater water-carrying capacity," and its 6-inch Boxer-style gutters have "a 10% higher water-carrying capacity than 6″ K-style gutters." A cart that lets a 5-inch guard ride along on a 6-inch order is setting up a return.

### The color has to run through the whole system

**Every visible part, in one color.** One manufacturer offers its gutter coil in painted aluminum in 26 traditional colors, plus copper and Galvalume Plus, and says it "offers every visible part of the gutter system in every color," down to screws "Available in every color" and color-matched pipe straps. The same manufacturer warns that spray paint "will fade much faster than baked-on enamel," and sells brush-on touch-up paint for minor nicks and scratches. The color belongs to every line on the ticket, not only to the coil.

**Metals do not mix.** The coil specification warns that "Corrosion is likely to happen with direct contact of aluminum products to certain dissimilar materials or water run-off from same such materials." Its list includes dissimilar metals, and roofing made with metallic granules of copper, zinc or steel. A copper gutter order with aluminum hangers on it is a question to ask before checkout, not after the install.

**Drainage starts at the downspout.** One manufacturer's catalog carries downspout adapters from 2 x 3 and 3 x 4 inch downspouts into 4-inch underground drainage pipe, solid and perforated pipe, and splash blocks. The adapter, like everything else on the order, is chosen by the downspout size.

## The Uncap solution

### Sell coil by the pound, let the installer order by the foot

**Coil as a spec, not a product title.** Width, gauge, metal and color become product attributes from your item master, built during implementation. Shopify says "You can create up to 2,048 variants for a product" and "Each product can have up to three options," so width, gauge and color can sit as options on one coil product per metal.

**A feet-to-pounds calculator.** The installer enters linear feet. The site converts them to pounds at the manufacturer's yield for that width and gauge, then rounds to the way you sell coil, by the pound or by the full coil. That calculator is built during implementation from your manufacturers' yield tables. Shopify's unit pricing covers the display side: "If you sell products in quantities or measurements, then you can display the price per unit for certain products." If your ERP holds coil stock in pounds, showing it in feet on the storefront is built during implementation from the same table.

### Build the system once, then fill the box

**A system selector.** The buyer picks profile, size, downspout size and color once. End caps, miters, hangers, outlets, elbows and guards that do not fit that system drop out of the list, and end caps ask for right or left. The selector is built during implementation from the fit rules between your parts.

**Box quantities enforced at checkout.** Shopify B2B catalogs carry [quantity rules](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/catalogs/quantity-pricing), and Shopify's own example fits this trade: "if your products are boxed in multiples of 10, then you can set your increment rule to 10." A miter packed 20 to a box gets an increment of 20 on each variant, because "Increment rules apply to product variants." Quantity rules "are re-validated in checkout." Volume pricing adds price breaks, up to 10 per product, and each break quantity has to be "a multiple of the increment that you set in your quantity rules." Where the box count changes by metal, as it does for rectangular downspouts, each variant carries its own rule.

**Notes at the cart, from your rules.** A notice when an order puts copper gutter with aluminum parts, or a guard sized for a different gutter, is built during implementation from your rules and the manufacturer's guidance. Uncap does not size gutters for a roof. Capacity notes on the storefront are the manufacturer's own.

### Reorders, job quotes and the ERP

**Reorders in Uncap Portal.** In [Uncap Portal](https://www.uncap.com/products/portal), each buyer sees their assortment and pricing, and reorder lists and order history are a click away. So last spring's coil colors and hanger boxes are one reorder from this spring's. Accounts are real multi-user accounts with roles and permissions, with budgets, approvals and limits per user, so the office can buy while a crew lead reorders. NET terms, invoices and payments sit in the portal.

**Job quotes in Uncap Quotes.** For commercial jobs, copper systems and large coil orders, [Uncap Quotes](https://www.uncap.com/products/quotes) applies negotiated prices, tiers and volume breaks automatically, sends exceptions to the right approver and generates clean, shareable quote documents. Quotes carry validity windows and a full revision history, and approved quotes turn straight into Shopify orders.

**The ERP stays the system of record.** [Uncap Connect](https://www.uncap.com/products/connect) is the real-time data layer between Shopify and your ERP: inventory, orders, customers and pricing move the moment they change, not in an overnight batch. It starts at $8,000 for onboarding and then a flat $390 per month. Field-level rules decide which system wins, every time, and failed sync events are isolated, surfaced in a live console and replayable, so nothing is silently dropped. Connect has native support for Shopify B2B companies, locations, catalogs, price lists and payment terms. Mapping coil and accessory items by width, gauge, size and color from the ERP is configured during implementation. Integration can also run as a managed iPaaS integration.

## Why Uncap

**The line between product and build, in writing.** Quoting and approvals ship in Uncap Quotes, trade accounts and reorders in Uncap Portal, and ERP sync in Uncap Connect. Coil attributes, the feet-to-pounds calculator, the system selector and the cart notes are built during implementation from your data. The scope says which is which.

**Credentials you can check.** Uncap is a Shopify Platinum Partner.

**Scoped before it is built.** The [Uncap Blueprint](https://www.uncap.com/blueprint) is a $7,500 fixed-price, 4-week Shopify migration plan. It covers solution architecture, a data migration taxonomy, an ERP integration audit, UX and flow prototyping and a replatforming risk register, and the fee is credited 1:1 toward implementation. For a gutter manufacturer or distributor, that architecture work can cover the coil attribute model, the fit rules between parts and the ERP integration. You walk with everything you need to brief any agency or your in-house team.

## Ready to talk

Bring two documents. The first is your coil price list by metal, width, gauge and color. The second is the parts list your counter writes for a typical 5-inch K-style job, with the box quantities you sell each part in. Together they show how much of a gutter order is data and how much still runs through someone who knows the parts by heart.

[Talk to Our Experts](https://www.uncap.com/quote) about your gutter catalog, or start with a Blueprint if what you need first is the coil model, the fit rules and the ERP integration written down and costed.

## Frequently asked questions

### Where can you buy gutter supplies wholesale?

Gutter installers, roofers and contractors buy gutter supplies wholesale from gutter manufacturers and from distributors. One manufacturer, for example, sells through its own branches across the country, stocking .027 and .032 coil, downspouts, hangers and guards. Online, the same buyer wants a trade account with their own pricing, the parts for the profile they install and the box quantities they buy.

### Where can I buy gutter guards wholesale?

From the gutter manufacturers and distributors that sell coil and accessories. Guards are sized to the gutter: one manufacturer sells a guard "compatible with both 5-inch and 6-inch gutters," a half-round-compatible version of another, and a flat panel in sizes from 6 to 9 inches. On an Uncap build, the system selector shows only the guards that fit the profile and size on the order, built during implementation.

### How much should 100 feet of gutter cost?

Uncap does not publish gutter prices, and the price of 100 feet depends on what the 100 feet is: profile, size, metal, gauge and color, plus the end caps, miters, hangers, outlets, downspouts and elbows that go with it. Coil is sold by weight, so 100 feet of gutter is first a number of pounds at the manufacturer's yield for that width and gauge, the conversion a manufacturer's coil yield calculator performs. On a contractor's account, the price shown is that contractor's price.

### What widths and gauges does gutter coil come in?

One manufacturer's published specification lists .027 aluminum coil in 11 3/4, 11 7/8, 14 and 15 inch widths and .032 in 11 3/4, 11 7/8, 15 and 18 inch widths, each coil approximately 300 to 400 lbs. Another manufacturer's yield calculator covers 11 7/8, 15 and 18 inch coil in .027 and .032 aluminum, copper and Galvalume Plus. Availability varies by manufacturer and area, so the storefront shows the widths and gauges your suppliers actually ship.

### Can Shopify sell gutter coil by the pound and by the foot?

Yes, with one part built during implementation. Shopify's unit pricing lets you display the price per unit for products sold in quantities or measurements, and coil width, gauge and color can be options on one product. The feet-to-pounds calculator, which converts the installer's linear feet into pounds or full coils at the manufacturer's yield, is built during implementation from your yield tables.

### Can contractors be held to full boxes of miters and hangers?

Yes. Shopify B2B quantity rules set minimums and increments per variant, and Shopify says they "are re-validated in checkout." A miter packed 20 to a box gets an increment of 20 on each variant, a hanger packed 100 to a box an increment of 100, and volume price breaks must be a multiple of that increment. Where a downspout's box count differs by metal, each variant carries its own rule.

### How do you keep gutters, downspouts and accessories one color on an order?

Make color part of the system the buyer picks, not a choice on each line. One manufacturer says it "offers every visible part of the gutter system in every color," and warns that spray paint fades faster than baked-on enamel. On an Uncap build, the buyer picks profile, size, downspout size and color once, and every part shown after that is in that color, built during implementation. Reorder lists in Uncap Portal keep the same colors for next season.

### Which ERPs does this connect to?

Uncap publishes thirteen ERP family integrations: Acumatica, Cin7, Epicor, Fishbowl, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Odoo, Oracle, QuickBooks, Sage, SAP and Syspro. For building materials dealers, the Epicor BisTrack and Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations pages cover those systems. Integrations run through an owned Uncap Connect app embedded in Shopify, or a managed iPaaS integration. For a specific ERP and the depth of sync you need, the Uncap team confirms fit directly.

### What is the difference between this page and the building materials page?

The building materials page covers how dimensional products sell: measure the job, add the waste factor, round to sellable units, quote it and show the lead time. This page covers the gutter installer's order: coil sold by the pound and ordered by the foot, accessories matched to one profile and size, full-box quantities and one color through the system. Gutters sold alongside shingles on a roofing ticket are covered on the roofing and siding page.
