Last updated: October 22, 2026. Every figure on this page comes from Shopify's investor releases, its Form 10-K and 10-Q filings with the SEC, its newsroom or its changelog. Each statistic names its period and its source, and the sources section lists every document with its date. Shopify reports third-quarter 2026 results on November 3, 2026, and we will update this page after that release.

**Key numbers**

- GMV: $378.4 billion in 2025 and $115.6 billion in the second quarter of 2026.
- Revenue: $11,556 million in 2025, up 30%, and $3,583 million in the second quarter of 2026, up 34%.
- B2B: B2B GMV grew 96% in 2025 and more than 140% in 2024, by Shopify's count.
- Reach: "Millions of businesses in 175+ countries use Shopify," and Shopify puts its US ecommerce market share above 14% for 2025.

## Shopify GMV statistics

GMV is the total value of orders that merchants process on Shopify. Shopify defines it as "the total dollar value of orders facilitated through the Shopify platform," net of refunds and including shipping, duty and value-added taxes. It is merchant sales, not Shopify's revenue.

- Statistic: Shopify merchants processed $378.4 billion in GMV in 2025, up from $292.3 billion in 2024 (Shopify fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 results, February 11, 2026). For B2B sellers: GMV counts every order through the platform, so B2B and DTC orders sit in the same total.
- Statistic: GMV grew 29% in 2025, after 24% in 2024, 20% in 2023 and 12% in 2022, according to the same February 2026 release. For B2B sellers: the growth rate rose in each of the last three years, so the platform you build on is still speeding up.
- Statistic: GMV was $115.6 billion in the second quarter of 2026, against $87.8 billion a year earlier (Shopify second-quarter 2026 results, August 5, 2026). For B2B sellers: Shopify's President called it "more than 30% growth in GMV AND revenue AND gross profit AND free cash flow" in the same release.
- Statistic: In the first half of 2026, Shopify facilitated $216.3 billion of GMV, an increase of 33% on the first half of 2025 (Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026). For B2B sellers: the newest half-year figure is the one to quote when someone asks how big Shopify is now.
- Statistic: First-quarter 2026 GMV was $100.7 billion, the quarter Shopify's CFO described as "over $100 billion of GMV in the first quarter alone" (May 5, 2026). For B2B sellers: Shopify has described the first quarter as "consistently our lowest GMV quarter seasonally" (February 11, 2025 release), so the $100 billion came in the seasonally slowest quarter.

## Shopify revenue statistics

Shopify earns revenue in two lines: subscription solutions (mainly platform subscriptions) and merchant solutions (mostly Shopify Payments, plus other services). Merchant solutions is the larger line.

- Statistic: Shopify's 2025 revenue was $11,556 million, up 30% from $8,880 million in 2024 (February 11, 2026 release). For B2B sellers: this is the "Shopify revenue" figure, and it is a different number from GMV, which is merchant sales.
- Statistic: In 2025, merchant solutions brought in $8,804 million and subscription solutions $2,752 million (same release). For B2B sellers: most of Shopify's revenue comes from merchant solutions such as Shopify Payments, which the 10-Q ties to merchant GMV, not from subscriptions.
- Statistic: Second-quarter 2026 revenue was $3,583 million, up 34%, with $2,781 million from merchant solutions and $802 million from subscription solutions (August 5, 2026 release). For B2B sellers: subscription solutions were 23% of revenue in the first half of 2026, down from 25% a year earlier, per the 10-Q.
- Statistic: Monthly recurring revenue (MRR) was $221 million at the end of the second quarter of 2026, against $185 million a year earlier (August 5, 2026 release). For B2B sellers: Shopify uses MRR as a directional indicator of future subscription revenue.

## Shopify B2B statistics

[B2B ecommerce](https://www.uncap.com/glossary/b2b-ecommerce) on Shopify means selling to business buyers through company accounts, catalogs and payment terms. Shopify reports B2B as one of its growth drivers in its annual results. It notes that B2B is still a very small portion of total GMV, so the growth rates describe a newer channel growing from a small base.

- Statistic: Shopify reported 96% B2B GMV growth for 2025 compared with 2024 (February 11, 2026 release). Its footnote, dated February 11, 2026, says B2B "represents a very small portion of total GMV today" and explains that, at the time, B2B was offered to Plus merchants only. For B2B sellers: that plan limit ended on April 2, 2026, when Shopify extended B2B features to the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans.
- Statistic: B2B GMV grew more than 140% in 2024 compared with 2023 (Shopify fourth-quarter and full-year 2024 results, February 11, 2025). For B2B sellers: B2B GMV roughly doubled or more in both 2024 and 2025, years when Shopify offered B2B on Plus.
- Statistic: "In the first three months of 2024, total B2B sales by merchants on Shopify were up 130% year-over-year" (Shopify newsroom, May 16, 2024). The same article says Shopify had "shipped more than four dozen B2B features since launching in 2022." For B2B sellers: the features that reached lower plans in 2026 are, in Shopify's words, "key pieces of what has been refined on Shopify Plus over nearly four years."
- Statistic: On April 2, 2026, Shopify extended native B2B features to the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans "at no additional cost," including "up to 3 active B2B catalogs (assigned via Markets)," company profiles, payment terms, volume pricing, ACH payments (U.S. only) and vaulted credit cards (Shopify changelog). For B2B sellers: you can start wholesale below Plus, then move up when you need more catalogs.
- Statistic: Per the same changelog, "Unlimited catalogs for customer-specific pricing, direct catalog assignment to companies and locations, partial payments, and deposits remain exclusive to Plus." For B2B sellers: if every account has its own price list, plan for Plus. Our guide to what Shopify Plus is and what it costs covers that choice.

## Shopify B2B results merchants report

Shopify also publishes outcome figures from merchants using Shopify B2B. These are Shopify's own "up to" figures, not averages, so read them as the top of a range.

- Statistic: "Merchants using Shopify B2B see up to a 4.1x increase in reorder frequency compared to DTC orders" (Shopify newsroom, April 2, 2026). For B2B sellers: Shopify compares this with DTC orders, so quick reorder deserves as much design attention as browsing on a B2B store.
- Statistic: Shopify says merchants who adopt Shopify B2B "see up to a 33% increase in self-serve orders within six months and up to a 20% increase in reorder frequency" (same article). For B2B sellers: a self-serve order is one the buyer places without your team keying it in.
- Statistic: Snyder Performance Engineering, an automotive parts manufacturer featured in the same article, reported "a 25% reduction in time spent on back-office tasks and a 40% increase in average customer spend" after moving its wholesale orders to Shopify B2B. For B2B sellers: Shopify's account of the change includes orders that "synced automatically with Snyder's back-office systems," so plan the back-office connection alongside the storefront.

## Shopify merchant and market share statistics

Shopify describes the size of its merchant base in words, not a store count, in its 2026 results. This page uses that wording and does not repeat third-party store counts.

- Statistic: "Millions of businesses in 175+ countries use Shopify" (About Shopify, August 5, 2026 release). For B2B sellers: quote this wording when you need Shopify's own description of its reach.
- Statistic: "While most merchants subscribe to our Basic and Grow plans, the majority of our gross merchandise volume ("GMV") has been generated from merchants subscribing to our Shopify Plus plan and enterprise offerings" (Form 10-K for 2025). For B2B sellers: most GMV comes from Plus and enterprise merchants, and Plus is the plan where, per Shopify's April 2, 2026 announcement, merchants get "full access to all Shopify B2B features."
- Statistic: Shopify puts its US ecommerce market share above 14% for 2025, based on its 2025 US GMV (excluding point of sale sales) and US Census Bureau quarterly retail ecommerce data combined with internal estimates (February 11, 2026 release). For B2B sellers: note that this share is measured against retail ecommerce, not B2B sales.
- Statistic: The same measure was above 12% for 2024 (February 11, 2025 release). For B2B sellers: Shopify's estimate moved from above 12% to above 14% in one year.
- Statistic: More than 875 million unique online shoppers bought from Shopify merchants in 2024 (February 11, 2025 release). For B2B sellers: this counts online shoppers across all Shopify stores, so it says nothing specific about B2B buyers.

## Shopify payments, checkout and growth driver statistics

Shopify reports a set of growth drivers each year alongside its headline results. These show where the platform's volume is coming from.

- Statistic: Shopify Payments processed $78.1 billion of GMV in the second quarter of 2026, a penetration rate of 68%, up from 64% a year earlier (Form 10-Q, quarter ended June 30, 2026). For full-year 2025 the penetration rate was 65.6% (Form 10-K). For B2B sellers: about two thirds of Shopify GMV now runs through Shopify Payments, so decide early which payment methods your B2B buyers will use.
- Statistic: Gross Payments Volume grew 37% and Shop Pay GMV grew 62% in 2025 (February 11, 2026 release). For B2B sellers: Shopify's Help Center lists "Accelerated checkouts, including Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay" among features that aren't compatible with B2B, so Shop Pay growth does not come from B2B checkouts.
- Statistic: International revenue grew 36% and offline revenue grew 27% in 2025, where international means all regions outside North America (February 11, 2026 release). For B2B sellers: Shopify defines offline revenue as revenue "from Shopify Payments for offline, POS Pro and Retail plan subscriptions and POS Hardware," the in-person side of the platform.
- Statistic: In November 2025, Shopify's President said entrepreneurs were making their "very first sale on Shopify every 26 seconds" (third-quarter 2025 results, November 4, 2025). For B2B sellers: this is a measure of new merchants starting out, not of B2B adoption.

## Shopify statistics by quarter, 2025 to 2026

Each quarter below shows GMV and revenue as Shopify reported them, with year-over-year revenue growth from the same release.

- Q1 2025: GMV $74.8 billion; revenue $2,360 million, up 27% (comparatives in the May 5, 2026 release).
- Q2 2025: GMV $87.8 billion; revenue $2,680 million, up 31% (comparatives in the August 5, 2026 release).
- Q3 2025: GMV $92.0 billion; revenue $2,844 million, up 32% (November 4, 2025 release).
- Q4 2025: GMV $123.8 billion; revenue $3,672 million, up 31% (February 11, 2026 release).
- Q1 2026: GMV $100.7 billion; revenue $3,170 million, up 34% (May 5, 2026 release).
- Q2 2026: GMV $115.6 billion; revenue $3,583 million, up 34% (August 5, 2026 release).

Shopify's filings say its merchants process additional GMV during the fourth-quarter holiday season, which is why the fourth quarter stands out. ## How these figures are measured

We built this page only from documents Shopify publishes, fetched on October 22, 2026. No figure comes from a third-party statistics site or an AI summary. Dollar figures from Shopify's tables are in US dollars; where the source reports millions, we show millions, and where we show billions we have rounded from Shopify's millions to one decimal.

- GMV: Shopify's definition, quoted above, counts orders through the platform and certain apps and channels with a revenue share, net of refunds. GMV does not represent revenue earned by Shopify (Form 10-K).
- Growth rates: each percentage is the one Shopify states, compared with the same period a year earlier. We did not calculate any growth rate ourselves.
- B2B growth: the releases listed below state B2B as growth rates, with the note that B2B is a very small portion of GMV.
- Merchant outcomes: the "up to" B2B figures and the Snyder results are Shopify's published claims about its merchants.
- Market share: Shopify's own estimate, built on US Census Bureau retail ecommerce data plus internal estimates.

## Turning the numbers into a B2B plan

Platform statistics tell you Shopify is growing and investing in B2B. They do not tell you which plan, catalog setup or ERP connection your wholesale business needs. Those answers come from your price lists, your accounts and your back office. In Uncap's B2B builds, the real project is usually the ERP connection, not the storefront, and our guide to [Shopify B2B ERP integrations](https://www.uncap.com/post/shopify-b2b-erp-integrations) walks through the options for connecting the two.

Before you plan, settle three things the statistics cannot: how many distinct price lists your accounts need, whether buyers will pay on terms or by card, and which system holds the truth for inventory and pricing. The answers decide your plan and your integration scope, and our page on [Shopify B2B development](https://www.uncap.com/solutions/shopify-b2b) covers how Uncap, a Shopify Platinum Partner, builds B2B stores on Shopify.
