Salesforce Commerce Cloud is Salesforce's suite of cloud-based tools for building, managing and scaling digital commerce, for consumer shoppers and business buyers alike. Developers often shorten it to SFCC. Salesforce describes it as a suite "unifying B2C, B2B, order management, payments, and point of sale on one platform."
This guide explains what Salesforce Commerce Cloud is in 2026 from Salesforce's own pages and Trailhead training: the products in the suite, where it came from, how it is hosted, how B2B Commerce works, how its editions are priced, and how a move to Shopify works if you are weighing one.
Key takeaways
- A suite, not one product: B2C Commerce, B2B Commerce, Order Management, Payments and Point of Sale share one architecture.
- Two names: Salesforce's Trailhead training calls it Agentforce Commerce; developers still say SFCC.
- Origins: Demandware joined Salesforce in 2016 as a B2C commerce product, and B2B followed after Salesforce acquired CloudCraze.
- Pricing: Salesforce lists its B2B and B2C editions with "Contact for Pricing" rather than published prices.
- Moving to Shopify: at Uncap, a migration from another platform typically takes 10 to 16 weeks, with a median cutover around 14 weeks.
What is Salesforce Commerce Cloud?
Salesforce Commerce Cloud is the commerce part of Salesforce's platform. Salesforce's own definition: "Commerce Cloud is Salesforce's suite of cloud-based tools for building, managing, and scaling digital commerce, for consumer shoppers as well as business buyers. Developers and architects often refer to the shorthand: SFCC."
The suite is built around one shared record of the customer. Salesforce says that "unified foundation" lets "a merchandiser adjusting a catalog, a service agent processing a return, and a buyer placing a reorder" all "work off the same record instead of three disconnected systems."
You will see two names for it. Salesforce's product pages say Commerce Cloud, while its Trailhead module on Commerce Cloud is titled "Agentforce Commerce: Quick Look" and says Agentforce Commerce serves "B2B (business to business), B2C (business to consumer) companies, and B2B2C companies, also called direct-to-consumer (D2C)." Trailhead adds that Agentforce Commerce "is part of the Salesforce integrated CRM platform that powers the entire suite of Salesforce connected apps."
Salesforce's B2B page ties the suite to CRM directly, describing "native connectivity between B2B Commerce and Sales" so quotes, product configurations, transactions and fulfillment sit together.
Where Commerce Cloud came from
Commerce Cloud started as an acquisition. On June 1, 2016, Salesforce announced it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Demandware, saying that with Demandware, Salesforce "will extend its Customer Success Platform with new Salesforce Commerce Cloud."
Trailhead tells the rest of the story: "Demandware joined Salesforce in 2016 as a B2C commerce product. A few years later, we expanded to B2B after acquiring CloudCraze, a leading ecommerce product for selling to business customers. Now we have a direct-to-consumer product."
B2C and B2B Commerce remain two products inside the suite today. Salesforce's own FAQ puts it simply: "They're two specializations within the same suite. B2C Commerce is built for consumer storefronts, while B2B Commerce is designed around business-buyer needs like contract pricing and approval workflows."
The products in the suite
Salesforce says Commerce Cloud "isn't a single product so much as five that share one architecture." Here is how it describes each one.
- B2C Commerce: "powers consumer storefronts, with headless options for teams that want full control over the front end." Trailhead says B2C Commerce runs "more than 3,000 websites in more than 50 countries."
- B2B Commerce: "handles the more complex needs of business buying (like contract pricing, approval chains, and large or recurring orders) through a self-service experience."
- Order Management: "tracks and routes orders across every channel from warehouse to doorstep."
- Payments: "processes transactions natively without bolting on a third-party checkout."
- Point of Sale: "connects physical retail registers to the same data layer as the digital storefront."
Salesforce also lists D2C Commerce, which Trailhead says "helps B2B merchants sell direct to consumer easily and quickly, even if it's for the first time," and which is "built on the Salesforce Platform."
How Salesforce Commerce Cloud is hosted
Commerce Cloud is a cloud service that Salesforce runs. Salesforce calls it a suite of "cloud-based tools" and says the platform "supports multilingual, multisite operations from a single platform instance, so expanding into new markets doesn't mean standing up new infrastructure."
On reliability and compliance, Salesforce's B2B page cites "always-on, 99.99% historical uptime servicing customers across 84 countries and languages," and says the platform "is PCI, GDPR, and HIPAA compliant."
For front ends, B2B Commerce offers "out-of-the-box headless Commerce APIs for cart, checkout, catalog, account, wishlist, and other experience-related services," and Salesforce's B2C pricing page describes "templates, composable storefronts and headless APIs." Trailhead notes that B2B Commerce "is built on the Salesforce Lightning Platform," which is how it combines CRM data with commerce data.
The practical upshot is the same as with other hosted platforms: your team or implementation partner configures, customizes and integrates the storefront, and Salesforce runs the infrastructure.
How B2B works on Salesforce Commerce Cloud
B2B Commerce is Salesforce's product for selling to business buyers. Trailhead says it lets companies "create and customize sites designed for a smaller set of known customers with extremely large, frequent, or recurring orders," and lists these features:
- Access to CRM data: "a complete view of the customer or account."
- Shopping carts: "Accommodate hundreds of items per order."
- Two-click reorders: "Make large, frequent orders fast and easy."
- Custom storefront themes: "Give each account a unique look and feel."
- Complex shipping: "Allow for multiple delivery dates and locations."
Salesforce's B2B page adds "account and buyer entitlements, negotiated pricing, tailored promotions, and personalized catalogs," the ability for buyers "to purchase on behalf of other accounts, businesses, or locations," splitting large orders "into multiple shipments and shipping speeds," and "over 200 promotion types."
On the service side, Salesforce says service agents "can check on orders, process returns or exchanges, and place orders on behalf of customers, from directly within their customer service console." If your team already works in Salesforce Sales and Service, that shared console is worth weighing.
What Salesforce Commerce Cloud costs
On Salesforce's Commerce Cloud pricing pages, each edition is shown with "Contact for Pricing." What the pages do show is how the editions differ.
- Commerce Cloud B2B Growth Edition: "6 Storefronts," "20 Inventory Locations," and "Order Management Lite."
- Commerce Cloud B2B Advanced Edition: "10 Storefronts," "20 Inventory Locations," and "Full Order Management."
- B2C Commerce Growth: "5 Sites" and "10 Price Books."
- B2C Commerce Plus: "100 Sites" and "3,500 Price Books."
- Commerce Cloud B2C Premium: "100 Sites and 3,500 Price Books" with "Full Order Management."
Support is priced on top. Salesforce's Premier Success Plan is listed at "30% of net license fees," while the Standard Success Plan is "Included in all licenses." Budget separately for implementation, which Salesforce points to its Professional Services and certified partners for.
Is Salesforce Commerce Cloud the same as Shopify?
No. Salesforce Commerce Cloud is part of Salesforce's CRM platform, and Shopify is a separate commerce platform made by Shopify. Both are hosted; the differences show up in how they are packaged and priced.
- Hosting: Salesforce runs Commerce Cloud as a suite of cloud-based tools. Shopify describes itself as "a cloud-based and hosted platform."
- Pricing: Salesforce lists its Commerce Cloud editions with "Contact for Pricing." Shopify publishes plan prices on its pricing page.
- B2B: on Salesforce, B2B Commerce is its own product inside the suite. On Shopify, B2B features are part of the Basic, Grow, Advanced and Shopify Plus plans, including companies, catalogs and net payment terms. Shopify says B2B "isn't available on the Starter or Retail plans," and below Plus you can assign "up to 3 active catalogs across all your B2B markets."

How a move from Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify works
A move off Commerce Cloud follows the same order as any replatform. Shopify's migration guide says to import products first, then customers, then historical orders, "so that products and customers can be properly connected to the orders." Customer passwords do not move in a CSV import: Shopify explains that "because passwords are encrypted outside of Shopify, you can't migrate customer passwords from another online store using a CSV," so you invite customers to create new passwords.
At Uncap, a Shopify Platinum Partner, a migration from another platform typically takes 10 to 16 weeks, and our median cutover is around 14 weeks. The work runs in six phases: plan the move, build and migrate in parallel, map redirects and protect search, test against real workflows, cut over, and watch it hold. Our guide to how long a Shopify B2B migration takes covers what moves that timeline.
The Commerce Cloud-specific work is rebuilding what was custom to Salesforce, such as storefront components, B2B pricing and integrations, for Shopify. Our Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify migration page covers the move from B2C Commerce and B2B Commerce step by step. If your ERP has to stay in sync after the move, Uncap Connect keeps pricing, inventory, customer data and orders current between Shopify and the ERP; it starts at $8,000 to set up and runs $390 a month.
Most migrations start with Uncap Blueprint, a $7,500 fixed-price plan delivered in four weeks and credited toward implementation.
