Head of Growth
Own Uncap's go-to-market execution across every growth channel, with partnerships, trade shows, and vertical accelerators as the work your own hands stay on.
Uncap is a Shopify Platinum Partner. Operator-led since 2013. We unify B2B and B2C on a single Shopify Plus store with real-time ERP sync, and we build the products that make it work: Connect, Portal, Quotes, Garage, Diagrams. In thirteen years we've shipped 380+ projects for manufacturers, distributors, and unified-commerce brands: Kooks, ULE Group, TotalBoat, Vermont Woods Studios, Sanitaire, and hundreds more.
We believe smaller and mid-market operators are the catalyst of the economy, and they deserve enterprise capability without the enterprise bill. Most of them still run on duct tape: aging storefronts, quote requests buried in inboxes, ERPs that don't talk to anything. We exist to close that gap.
Our values shape who we hire: Good Humans (character over everything), Craftsman with Care (we don't ship mediocre), Forward Through Curiosity (stay humble, keep learning), Partner, Not Vendor (tell the truth, especially when it's hard), and an AI-First Mindset (we use AI where it counts; we skip the hype).
The role
We don't grow by buying attention. We grow through relationships: with Shopify, with complementary ecommerce platforms, with ERP partners and VARs, with ISVs and complementary firms, and with the operators themselves at the shows, tables, and rooms where this industry actually makes decisions.
As Head of Growth, you own our go-to-market execution across every growth channel. Content, paid, SEO and AI search visibility, events, outbound, and partnerships all run through this seat. The strategy is set with the Principal; making it happen, and being accountable for what the engine produces, is yours.
Partnerships are the core channel and the part you execute personally. Building alliances, co-marketing, trade shows, and executive roundtables is where your own hands stay. The rest of the channels run through contractors you direct: you brief them, review their work, hold the quality line on everything that carries our name, and replace them when they're not performing.
And you'll do something most growth roles never touch: help decide what we sell. Working with partners, our Principal Architect, and our Head of Products, you'll identify the patterns that repeat across a vertical and turn them into accelerators: productized offerings that package what we've already solved a dozen times into something we can sell repeatedly, at better margin, with less risk to the client.
You are the face of Uncap in the ecosystem. When a Shopify rep or an Epicor VAR thinks about who to bring into a deal, we want your name to be the one that surfaces.
This is a hands-on seat. Leverage comes from partners, contractors, AI tooling, and judgment. If that sounds like a constraint, it's the wrong role. If it sounds like freedom, keep reading.
Why partnerships work (and why most of them don't)
Most partner programs produce a logo slide and nothing else. The ones that produce revenue answer four questions, and answering them is the job:
- What does the other side get? Partnerships fail when one party is extracting and the other is giving. Before you ask a VAR for a referral, you should know exactly what they need that we can provide, and be able to deliver it first.
- Who is the actual human? Programs don't refer deals. People do. Every partnership that works traces back to one person who trusts you enough to put their client relationship at risk. Find that person, earn it, and keep earning it.
- Is anything actually happening? Signed agreements are not activity. You'll hold partners to committed action, measure what each relationship produces, and end the ones that don't. Politely, and without waiting a year.
- Does this send us the right work? Volume isn't the goal. A partner who sends five poor-fit opportunities costs us more than one who sends none. You own the first filter, and part of your job is turning work away.
If a partnership stalls, your instinct should be to ask which of these four went unanswered, not to add another partner to the list.
What you'll do
- Execute the GTM plan across every growth channel. Turn the strategy into activity, manage the budget against it, and be accountable for what the whole engine produces, not just the channel you run yourself.
- Source, build, and grow partnerships across the Shopify ecosystem, ERP vendors, VARs, and implementation partners (NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, Infor, Acumatica, Epicor, and others), ISVs, and complementary service firms.
- Formalize what we've already earned. We integrate deeply with most of the major mid-market ERPs and have shipped the work to prove it, but few of those relationships are formal partnerships yet. Turning years of integration credibility into structured, revenue-producing alliances is the single biggest opportunity in this role.
- Own the partner relationship end to end: first conversation, agreement, activation, ongoing performance, and the honest conversation when it isn't working.
- Design and run co-marketing that produces pipeline, not impressions: joint webinars, co-authored content, shared research, referral campaigns in both directions.
- Own trade show strategy and P&L. Which shows, what presence, pre-show outreach, on-site meeting targets, and post-show conversion. B2B Online, SEMA, HARDI, ERP user conferences and community events, and whatever else earns its place.
- Run intimate formats where relationships actually form: executive roundtables, dinners, and virtual sessions with operator-owners in our verticals.
- Build accelerators with Partners, our Principal Architect, and Products. Spot the functionality that shows up again and again inside a vertical (the fitment logic in performance parts, the contract pricing in industrial distribution, the configurator in made-to-order manufacturing) and package it into a productized offering with a defined scope, price, and story.
- Take those accelerators to market: position them, build the partner motion around them, and use them as the wedge into a vertical rather than selling custom work one deal at a time.
- Pre-qualify every opportunity we pass to Sales on industry, size, and systems, working from an explicit fit profile and an explicit exclusion list.
- Run the rest of the channels through contractors: content, paid, SEO and AI search visibility, outbound, and design. Set the direction, brief clearly, review honestly, and replace vendors who aren't performing.
- Own the marketing budget and its return, and be able to defend every line of it.
- Feed the field back to the business: which partners are producing, which segments are heating up, and where our positioning is landing or missing.
How we'll measure it
- Partner-sourced qualified opportunities per quarter
- Accelerators launched, and revenue attributable to them
- Co-marketing and event-attributed pipeline
- Active partner count and per-partner contribution
- Percentage of passed opportunities that survive full qualification
- Cost per qualified opportunity across all channels
What we're looking for
- ✓5+ years in partnerships, alliances, or field marketing at a services firm, agency, or ISV in an ecosystem-driven market.
- ✓Named partnerships you personally sourced and grew, with revenue attached. Not a partner program you administered.
- ✓Co-marketing programs that produced measurable pipeline, and the discipline to know which ones didn't.
- ✓Trade show ownership end to end, including the P&L and the follow-up, not just the booth.
- ✓Experience running small, high-trust formats. Roundtables and dinners are a different muscle than large events, and it's the muscle we need most.
- ✓Budget ownership and contractor direction: briefing, quality control, and ending bad engagements quickly.
- ✓Pattern recognition and product sense. You can sit through ten discovery conversations and see the thing three of them have in common, then argue for building it. Experience productizing a service offering is a strong plus.
- ✓A genuine appetite for saying no. You'll be measured partly on the work you turn away.
- ✓An AI-first way of working, judged by what you've built rather than what you've used.
- ✓Character first. You tell the truth, do the right thing when it's hard, and you're the kind of human the team wants to show up to work with.
Nice to have
- Existing relationships in the ecommerce partner or ERP ecosystem.
- Time on the B2B Online, SEMA, or HARDI circuits, or inside an ERP vendor's partner and user community.
- A working understanding of the manufacturer / distributor / wholesaler world we serve.
- Experience as the first or only marketer somewhere.
- Familiarity with Attio, and with Claude Code or Claude Design.
How we work
- Remote. Our team is small and staying that way; you'll work directly with the Principal, Services, and Products, not in a silo.
- Lean by design. Output comes from leverage, not headcount. You'll have real autonomy over strategy and budget, and you'll be expected to decide without waiting for permission.
- Flat and fast. No layers to route through, no approval theater. Decisions get made in the conversation they come up in, and we'd rather move and correct than wait and be certain.
- We build our own tools. We run on a proprietary operating system that ties our stack together for forecasting, scorecards, and business health, and we're constantly rebuilding how we work to take friction out.
- We lead with answers, not decks. No manufactured urgency, no B.S., in sales or in marketing.
Compensation and benefits
Competitive base salary plus performance-based variable, calibrated to experience. Market benchmarks for comparable partnership and growth leadership roles in the agency and commerce-technology space typically land in the ~$120K to $140K base range, with total on-target earnings meaningfully higher; we'll be transparent about our specific range early in the process.
Health coverage, flexible time off, and travel budget for the rooms you decide are worth being in.
