Carton rounding by SKU coverage
Square feet in, whole cartons out, at each SKU's printed coverage and the account's broken-carton policy.
- SKU-level rounding built during implementation
Uncap builds luxury vinyl flooring ecommerce on Shopify for distributors and manufacturers selling LVT, LVP and SPC or WPC rigid core to dealers, contractors and builders. Laminate sells the same way. Four things set this category apart. The wear layer, measured in mil, decides which warranty a plank carries and which jobs it can go on. Click and glue-down products need different underlayment, adhesive and moldings. Every order rounds to whole cartons of a fixed coverage. And the same plank can sit in your catalog under a mill's name and under your own label.
Wear layer, install method, whole cartons of a fixed coverage and one plank under two names set this category apart.
Rigid core and flexible vinyl are two products under two specifications. ASTM F1700 covers solid vinyl flooring in tile and plank format, "protected by a clear wear layer" and intended for "commercial, light commercial, and residential buildings." ASTM F3261 covers resilient flooring that "utilizes a polymeric rigid core as part of the product structure," the category the trade sells as SPC and WPC. Rigid core mostly floats on a click joint. Flexible LVT is often glued. File both under "vinyl plank" and you sell the wrong kit.
The wear layer is a spec, a warranty and a permitted use at the same time. A mil is a thousandth of an inch. Manufacturers set their warranty terms against it, line by line. Shaw Floors' published LVT and LVP warranty terms read: "20 mil products have a lifetime limited warranty and a 10 year light commercial warranty. 12 mil products have a 30 year limited residential warranty and a 7 year light commercial warranty." Those are one mill's terms, not an industry rule. So the dealer quoting a dental office needs the light commercial term on the product page, not a mil number and a guess.
Click and glue-down change the whole accessory list. A floating click floor raises the underlayment question, and ASTM F3261 notes that rigid core "may utilize an attached underlay backer." Whether a separate pad is allowed, required or redundant comes from each manufacturer's installation instructions. Glue-down raises the adhesive question instead. One manufacturer's glue-down instructions name the approved adhesives and a 1/16 by 1/32 by 1/32 inch U-notch trowel. Flooring and adhesive must acclimate "for a minimum of 48 hours prior to installation." Both methods still need T-moldings, reducers, stair nose and quarter round in the plank's color.
Every order rounds to a carton, and the carton belongs to the SKU. Contractors measure rooms in square feet. Your warehouse picks cartons with a fixed coverage printed on the label, and that coverage is a property of each SKU, not of the collection. Whether an account may buy a broken carton for a repair is your policy, and it differs by account. Laminate follows the same carton logic, the same click install and the same underlayment decision.
Run lot is a stock condition, not a footnote. Luxury vinyl cartons carry a run or lot number. The same instructions tell the installer to "check the carton label to verify that all materials are from the same run/lot number." So 1,800 square feet on hand across three runs is not 1,800 square feet you can promise to one job. Today the dealer finds out when the installer opens the cartons.
The same plank can carry two names. Run a house brand next to mill brands and one product has your label and style name, the mill's style number, and a run number only the mill's records explain. Dealers search by whichever name their customer gave them. A claim has to trace back to the mill's run, whoever's name is on the box.
Carton rounding, single-run allocation and install-method accessory logic are built during implementation, with lot inventory and account pricing arriving through Uncap Connect.
Square feet to cartons, per SKU. The measure, calculate and order flow on the building materials page, with the waste factor shown, is where this starts. On luxury vinyl the rounding gets specific: coverage per carton loads from each SKU's spec, an order rounds up to whole cartons, and your broken-carton policy applies by account. That SKU-level rounding is built during implementation. Shopify's B2B quantity rules support minimum, maximum and increment rules per product, which is where per-account carton minimums are set.
Lot-level availability from the ERP. The ERP tracks stock by lot. Lot-level availability, so the storefront only promises a quantity a single lot can fill and the order records which lot it ships from, is built during implementation on inventory synced through Uncap Connect. For luxury vinyl and laminate, the lot is the production run on the carton label. Connect keeps Shopify and the ERP in real-time, two-way sync. It syncs "customer-specific pricing, credit terms, and tax rules," embedded inside Shopify with no separate middleware platform to maintain. The ERP stays the system of record.
Warranty class as product data, permitted use as a filter. Wear layer, residential term and light commercial term load per SKU from each manufacturer's published warranty during implementation. The filter that keeps a residential-only plank off a light commercial job is built on that data.
The install kit follows the install method. Each SKU carries its method (click, glue-down or loose lay) and the accessory rules that follow: underlayment allowed or not, approved adhesive and trowel, moldings in the matching color. Those rules are built during implementation from your manufacturers' installation instructions. A contractor who adds 40 cartons of a glue-down plank sees the approved adhesive and the moldings for that color, priced for their account.
Job quotes through Uncap Quotes. A light commercial job, a builder's multi-unit order or a request for a broken carton goes to a quote. Uncap Quotes runs the configure, price, quote workflow inside the Shopify admin, with negotiated account prices, tiers and volume breaks applied automatically. Exceptions route to the right approver. Every quote carries a validity window and a full revision history, and the approved version converts to a Shopify order in one click.
Account pricing and reorders in Uncap Portal. In Uncap Portal, each buyer sees their own assortment and pricing. The dealer sees its program price, the builder its contract. Reorder lists and order history are a click away, and net terms, invoices and payments sit in the same place. The add-on order for a job already installed is where run matters most. Flagging the original run on that reorder is built during implementation.
Private label, cross-referenced. A cross-reference from your label and style name to the mill's style number and the carton run is built during implementation and kept in the ERP. Search finds the plank under either name, and a claim traces to the right run.
On whether Shopify can carry flooring distribution rules. Carton rounding by SKU coverage, single-run allocation and install-method accessory logic are not standard features of any commerce platform. On every platform they are built from your ERP data and your manufacturers' documents. The real decision is whether lot inventory and account pricing reach them intact. On Shopify they arrive through Uncap Connect.
Each feature covers what makes resilient flooring different: wear layer, install method and run.
Square feet in, whole cartons out, at each SKU's printed coverage and the account's broken-carton policy.
The storefront only promises what one run can fill, and the order records the run it ships from.
Mil, residential term and light commercial term shown per SKU, loaded from the manufacturer's published warranty.
A light commercial job only sees planks whose warranty covers light commercial use.
Click, glue-down and loose lay each pull their own underlayment, adhesive, trowel and moldings.
Dealer program, builder contract or quote price for the logged-in account, never a public list.
Your label, the mill's style number and the carton run linked, so search and claims both resolve.
Broken cartons and light commercial jobs priced as quotes, routed to an approver, converted in one click.
Inventory by run, pricing, customers and orders kept current, delivered through an owned Uncap Connect app or a managed iPaaS integration.

Scoped before it is built. The Uncap Blueprint maps your collections, carton specs, run inventory, warranty data, accessory rules and ERP integration before any build begins. You keep the architecture, the prototype, the data plan, the risk register and the fixed-cost estimate.
This page sits under building materials ecommerce, part of the building and construction section. The hub covers square foot pricing, waste factors, contractor pricing, submittals and lead times for every dimensional product. This page goes one level down, into what makes resilient flooring different: wear layer, install method and run. If you also sell porcelain and natural stone, see tile and stone ecommerce, where shade and caliber play the role run plays here. For species, grade and random-length bundles, see hardwood flooring ecommerce. For field notes, read how building materials suppliers move from phone and fax orders to a storefront, and how case packs and quantity increments work on Shopify. For the ERP side, see the Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations integration, the Sage 300 integration or the full list of ERP integrations.
Bring two documents. First, a spec export for one collection, with coverage per carton, wear layer and install method per SKU. Second, a week of dealer orders that went back and forth over a run or a missing molding. Between them they hold the rounding, the lot rules and the accessory logic this build has to reproduce.
Book a strategy session with Uncap, or start with a Blueprint if what you need first is the run, carton and warranty logic mapped to your ERP and costed.
Yes, because these rules are built from your data on any platform, and Shopify runs them once they are. No commerce platform ships flooring carton rounding, run allocation or click versus glue-down accessory logic as standard features. On Shopify, those rules are built during implementation. Run inventory and customer-specific pricing arrive through Uncap Connect in real-time, two-way sync, and job quotes run in Uncap Quotes inside the Shopify admin. The ERP stays the system of record for lots and prices.
That depends on the manufacturer's warranty, not on the mil number alone. Each mill sets its own terms per line. Shaw Floors, for example, gives its 20 mil products a lifetime limited warranty and a 10 year light commercial warranty. Its 12 mil products get 30 years residential and 7 years light commercial. Your storefront should show the term and the permitted use for each SKU, loaded from that manufacturer's warranty.
Rigid core has a polymeric rigid core and is specified under ASTM F3261; flexible luxury vinyl tile and plank is specified under ASTM F1700. The trade sells rigid core as SPC and WPC, mostly installed as a floating click floor, sometimes with an attached underlay backer. Flexible LVT is often glued down. For a distributor, that means different accessories and different install instructions on the order.
By allocating from lot-level inventory in the ERP. The ERP tracks stock by lot. Lot-level availability, so the storefront only promises a quantity a single lot can fill and the order records which lot it ships from, is built during implementation on inventory synced through Uncap Connect. For luxury vinyl, the lot is the run number on the carton label.
Yes, once each SKU carries its install method and the accessory rules from the manufacturer's instructions. A click plank pulls the underlayment its maker allows, or none if the plank has an attached backer and the maker says so. A glue-down plank pulls the approved adhesive and trowel. Both pull moldings in the matching color. These rules are built during implementation, and every accessory prices for the buyer's account.
Yes. A cross-reference linking your label and style name to the mill's style number and the carton run is built during implementation and kept in the ERP. Dealers find the plank under either name, and each buyer sees their own assortment and pricing in Uncap Portal, so you control which accounts see the house line.
Uncap publishes twelve ERP family integrations: Acumatica, Cin7, Epicor, Fishbowl, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Odoo, Oracle, QuickBooks, Sage and SAP. Integration pages that fit flooring distribution include Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations and Sage 300. Integrations are delivered through an owned Uncap Connect app or a managed iPaaS integration. For your ERP and the depth of lot-level sync you need, the Uncap team confirms fit directly.
The building materials page covers how every dimensional product is sold: square foot pricing, waste factors, coverage and rounding to sellable units, contractor pricing and submittals. This page covers what only resilient flooring adds: wear layer as warranty class, install method as accessory list, run lot as a stock condition and private label across brands. Most flooring distributors need both.
With a Blueprint, a scoping engagement delivered before any build begins. It maps your collections, carton specs, run inventory, warranty data and accessory rules against your ERP, and you keep the architecture, prototype, data plan, risk register and fixed-cost estimate.
